To ensure workers are provided with safe working and traveling surfaces, OSHA has developed and recently updated its regulation 29 CFR 1910 Subpart D, titled “Walking and Working Surfaces".  Those employees covered by the regulation must be trained in the nature of the fall hazards in the work area and how to recognize them, as well as in the procedures to be followed to minimize those hazards.  This program discusses the three most common topics addressed in those sections of the regulation so viewers can make sure the surfaces on which they work or travel are safe and secure.

• Slips and Trips hazards, causes, corrections and working around stairs.
• Brief overview of Fall Protection Systems to be used around an "unprotected edge" which is 4 feet or more above a lower level.
• Personal Fall Arrest Systems and its proper use including: Anchor Points, Body Harnesses, Connecting Devices and calculating / limiting fall distance.
• Portable Ladders:  inspection, setup, climbing and safe work practices.
• Brief overview of Protection from Falling Objects. 
• Employee Training & Retraining requirements.
